Former CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani on Papon Controversy: Such Celebs Shouldn’t Be Invited

Former CBFC Chief Pahlaj Nihalani on Papon Controversy: Such Celebs Shouldn’t Be Invited
After Farah Khan, Monali Thakur and other Bollywood celebs expressed their opinion in the Papon kiss controversy, now Former Chairman of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has a take on Papon allegedly kissing a minor girl.
Pahlaj says, “Since the video is edited and we are not fully aware of what happened before or after the scene, I will refrain from making any unnecessary comments. However, I feel it is the organisers’ responsibility to ensure their participants’ safety in such cases.”
He further added, “I feel such celebrities, who can make children feel uncomfortable or anxious in any manner, should not be invited to such shows at all. In this specific incidence, parents must be aware of what happened and the kid in question is also accomplished to comment if the intentions were pure or not.”
He said that proper inquiry should be done and looked from all the perspectives, including of the people present at the scene. Supreme Court lawyer Runa Bhuyan on Friday filed a complaint against Angarag Papon Mahanta, under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for allegedly ‘inappropriately kissing a minor girl.’
Wasn't smothering a child's face with your palm rubbing color all over it for 4 secs enough as fatherly love, that u had to pull the child's face then to strategically peck her on the lip??? There was no wrong camera angle or the child moving her face mistakenly BTW 🙄😡👎
I know he is good guy. But there is no doubt that when I saw the video it made me feel uncomfortable. I think he didn't mean to do it but if it was my daughter I would not like it. I think people should not touch other people's children, just to show affection: Farah Khan
The incident happened on Friday during the shoot of Holi celebrations on the sets of a singing reality show ‘The Voice India Kids’. The accused Papon who is one of the judges of the show among Shaan and Himesh Reshammiya and also a noted singer in Bollywood, was seen smearing color on the face of the minor girl and then allegedly kissing her on the lips.
The video was LIVE when the incident took place and we can see in the video that Papon was completely unaware of the video being shot live on Facebook and quickly told the cameraman to end the video as soon as he realized. The girl was also seen uncomfortable after the incident.

Following the controversy, Papon claimed that he has been ‘falsely implicated.’ Several Bollywood celebrities have slammed Papon for this act while some of his friends from the industry also defended the singer, including the minor girl herself with whom the incident happened.
