5 Phones That Might Not Fit Your Pocket, But Will Definitely Fit Your Budget

  • There are so many smartphones under Rs.15,000 in the market that not being able to own the latest iPhone, or a fancy counterpart, doesn’t hurt anymore. The latest addition to the bandwagon of smartphones under Rs. 15,000 is the Moto G5, launched on 4 April, and already available for sale online.
But before you get too excited and put the phone in your cart, you might want to consider other options that are equally good and pocket-friendly, and no we're not talking size-wise.

1.       Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Dual SIM)
Chinese smartphone company Xiaomi came to India and took the market by storm with its range of affordable yet reliable smartphones. This one is in the mix for being an all-rounder.

Camera: 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The pictures taken in the phone are directly uploaded on the Cloud, saving extra space in your already lavish internal storage. The camera is also 4K enabled, which means it can capture minute details like the wing patterns of a butterfly.

Best Feature: The phone has an infrared sensor which makes it a universal remote control. From controlling AC temperatures to your own TV, you can do it all with just a touch on your phone. Unlike most other phones with a master control centre button, this phone has a fingerprint sensor on the back for unlocking, just below the camera.

Memory & RAM: 4 GB RAM and an inbuilt memory of 64 GB, which can be expanded up to 256 GB.

Battery Life: Superior. Redmi Note 4 offers a 4100 mAh battery, which will easily last you about a day and a half with heavy usage. The only drawback is that it does not support fast-charging.

Price: Rs. 12,999

2.       InFocus Epic 1 (Dual SIM)
While many haven’t heard much about the American company InFocus, it’s got an amazing piece that will give you all you need for under Rs. 15,000.

Camera: The phone offers a 16 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera, which again is 4K enabled.

Best Feature: This one offers the best camera as compared to other competitors in the same price bracket. It offers slow-mo recording, and also has de-noise technology that will give you a comparatively clearer picture even in low-light conditions.

Memory & RAM: 3 GB RAM and 32 GB internal storage, expandable up to 128 GB.

Battery: 3000 mAh battery that sees you through 10-14 hours of heavy usage. The phone also supports fast charging, so you can quickly fuel up to 50% battery in about 30 minutes.

Price: Rs. 12,999

3.       Huawei Honor 6X (Dual SIM)
Giving the above phones tough competition is another slick-looking, metal bodied smartphone from another Chinese brand, Huawei. Rather new in the market, the 6X’s predecessors have proved to be good performers, which has increased the brand, and therefore, this model’s credibility too.

Camera: 12 MP rear camera and 8 MP front camera. Avoid this phone if you're looking to shoot intricate videos as this camera is not 4K enabled.

Best Feature: Its most unique feature is its dual rear camera, one 12 MP, and the other is a sensor just below the main camera that offers 2 MP. A bonus for photography enthusiasts.

Memory & RAM: 3 GB RAM with 32 GB internal storage. For an extra Rs. 3,000, you can buy the 64 GB version.

Battery: The phone has a 3340 mAh battery and supports fast charging. With heavy usage, the phone can last through the day.

Price: Rs. 12,999

4.       LeEco Le 2 (Dual SIM)
Another Chinese brand that has entered the Indian market, LeEco might not be renowned in the country yet but soon will be. Just like InFocus Epic 1, this one’s got a camera that’s superior to Moto and Xiaomi  but lacks good storage.

Camera: 16 MP rear and 8 MP front camera, 4K-enabled.

Best Feature: The best part about this handset is its bi-directional charging connection, which means this can double up as a power bank – you can actually charge another phone using this phone. Also, for its price, it offers an amazing 3D gaming experience.

Memory & RAM: The phone is powered by a 3GB RAM and has a 32GB internal memory which is not expandable, unfortunately. But throw in another Rs. 3000, and you can buy the 64 GB version.

Battery: 3000 mAh battery that lasts an entire day with heavy usage. The phone supports fast charging too.

Price: Rs. 11, 999

5.       Moto G5 (Dual SIM)
The newest affordable smartphone on the block. Let's dive in without further ado.

Camera: The phone is equipped with a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera. But it is not 4K enabled.

Best Feature: For butter fingers whose day is incomplete without dropping their phone a dozen times, this one comes with a metal body. You can’t break it even if you want to. #ValueForMoney

Memory & RAM: 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory, expandable up to 128 GB.

Battery Life: The phone offers a standard 3000 mAh battery, which lasts up to 10 hours for heavy users. The phone is not fast-charge enabled like its superior version Moto G5 Plus, but it does support the company’s rapid charger, which is good enough.
